WHAT IS LIP BLUSHING?
Like micro-blading, 'lip blushing' is a semi-permanent form of tattoo makeup that gives the lips added color and a fuller appearance.
The treatments that used carbon-based tattoo ink, resulting in harsh lines that aged to bluish tones are in the past, today's lip blushing is a whole different species. It is a more topical and natural approach to traditional lip tattooing where natural shades of organic pigment are used in your desired color and applied using a cosmetic tattoo machine.
The newest technique that can help enhance and even out natural color, or add color if you are lacking any pigment is The Aquarelle Lips. Your lips will look darker and more like lipstick on the first day, and soften as they heal to become a subtle, natural-looking lip tint.
This technique involves creating a very soft and subtle outline of your lips with a lip color that best suits your skin coloring and desired look. This soft line is then blended and shaded when filling in your lips with the pigment. By doing this, we are avoiding the “lined lip” look, and therefore creating the illusion of fuller, natural-looking lips.
Think of it as a lip blush that stays on and will keep you looking your best no matter what the occasion is! Apply a little gloss or balm and your lips are perfectly kissable!
ACHIEVING THE PERFECT LIP COLOR
Given the semi-permanent nature of the procedure, it's important to carefully consider your color with your aesthetician, and avoid any hues that will look dated in a few months’ time.
We have many colors and shades of lip color and can also custom blend a color to suit you. If you have a favorite lip color feel free to bring it in so we can color match it. If not we have everything from nudes and pinks, to deep reds and mauves for you to choose from. We will decide on the color choice that best suits your skin tone and current lip color. Then, we will review how best to correct or improve lip shape if necessary.
HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?
Semi-Permanent Aquarelle Lip Color lasts up to three years. This varies among different skins types and is also dependent on the color of pigment used, with darker colors typically lasting longer. Results will always vary from person to person, after your initial session and the touch-up. Additional touch-ups may be required depending on the person and look desired.

YES - Semi-permanent Aquarelle lip color can definitely create the illusion of fuller lips. Our technicians can bring the lip liner very slightly outside of the natural lip shape to make the lips appear more full. This will define your lip shape and create the look of slightly larger lips.
What is the process like?
CONSULTATION
Our technicians will talk with you in great detail about the look you are trying to achieve and what might be recommended to you. Once we have an idea of the look you are aiming for, we draw the lip contour and color on it with a makeup pencil. This can be drawn on and adjusted as many times as needed.
At AskCares, we will never begin the process until you are completely happy with what it is going to look like.
TREATMENT
The treatment begins with a topical numbing to the lips for thirty minutes. This helps with any initial sensitivity. We will then begin the process of applying the lip color using a special facial tattooing machine, which works at a much lower frequency than a standard tattoo machine.
You will feel the vibrations but you should not feel much discomfort. Also, we continue to numb the lips throughout the appointment to ensure you are comfortable or give you breaks if you need them.
The procedure takes about 2 hours but it varies from person to person depending on your individual requirements. After a lip treatment, you are likely to be swollen, so we do not advise making any social plans for a few days afterward.
RETOUCH
A second appointment is needed 4-8 weeks after your first treatment. This is usually a 30-60 minute appointment to add more pigment to the lips. This is because as the area is healing, some parts may not ‘hold’ as well as others and you may have a few patches that need more color.
This is completely normal and everyone heals differently. Whatever the case, we advise you always come back for your retouch.
