Radiofrequency Therapy vs Fibroblast Plasma Lift

Which is the most effective Skin Tightening Treatment?

As you age, your skin cells produce less collagen, which leads to sagging skin and wrinkles. It’s usually around age 35 to 40 when the quantity and quality of your collagen begin to decline. With so many revolutionary technologies out there, it can be hard to decide which skin tightening method will be right for you.

Here at AskCares, our highly skilled technicians offer a variety of skin tightening solutions, such as Face Sculpting Massage, Microcurrent Therapy, Microneedling, Radiofrequency Therapy, and Fibroblast Plasma Lift.

In this article, we want to dive deeper into two of these treatments, so you can better understand which option is the best for you!

WHAT IS RADIOFREQUENCY THERAPY?

Radiofrequency (RF) therapy, also called radiofrequency skin tightening, is a nonsurgical method of tightening your skin. It has been used since 2001 to fight against signs of aging.

RF therapy uses low radio energy to heat the deep layer of your skin called the dermis. This heat stimulates the production of collagen to help improve signs of wrinkles and sagging skin.

 HOW DOES IT WORK?

RF waves heat the deep layer of your skin to between 104 and 108°F. Studies have found that maintaining a temperature over 104°F promotes new collagen and elastin production and encourages cell turnover, helping skin become firmer, thicker, and more youthful-looking.

WHAT IS THE TREATMENT LIKE?

RF tightening is non-invasive, non-surgical, and not very painful.

There’s really little to no downtime. The procedure itself can feel hot, like a hot stone massage.

It's also a gradual process, so while you can be in and out of the office in under an hour, you’ll need two to six treatments usually (depending on the size of the area you're treating, delivered 7-10 days apart

WHAT ARE SOME OF THE BENEFITS OF RADIOFREQUENCY THERAPY?

  • Reducing wrinkles and fine lines

  • Fighting sun damage

  • Face contouring

  • Face slimming

WHICH AREAS ARE BEST FOR RF THERAPY?

The most desired areas for RF therapy are the forehead, upper and lower eyelids, nasolabial folds, jowls, and neck.

IS IT SAFE? WHAT ARE THE SIDE EFFECTS?

Research has found that RF therapy is safe and can be effective at treating mild or moderate signs of aging. The procedure normally takes less than an hour and should be nearly painless. There are very few side effects to this procedure, but can include:

  • Temporary swelling

  • Redness

  • Tingling

Another advantage of using RF therapy to heat skin tissues, as opposed to lasers (which use higher-frequency light waves), is that the lower frequency of RF can safely penetrate to a deeper level, helping to improve skin tone and structure, even lifting tissues.

Lasers for the most part work to improve the skin’s surface. In addition, RF can safely treat more patients with different skin tones without risking permanent discoloration.

At AskCares, however, we use Forma Facial technology. Forma has a built-in thermal temperature sensor, which provides unprecedented safety of RF delivery.

The “cut off temperature” feature reduces RF energy automatically the desired temperature has been reached. As a result, our RF treatments are safe on all skin types!

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

The cost will vary based on the qualifications of the provider you choose and the area in which the salon is located.

A single treatment of RF therapy at AskCares is $220 but you can expect to see immediate results. We offer a package of five RF therapy treatments that include both the face and the neck for only $990. If you would like to focus on your neck only it is $95 for a single treatment and package $427 for a package of five treatments.

WHAT IS FIBROBLAST PLASMA LIFT?

Fibroblast treatment has many different titles: Fibroblast skin tightening, Fibroblast wrinkle remover, Fibroblast Plasma Lift, Fibroblast mole remover, to name a few. They all refer to the same treatment: using a plasma pen to produce results that look like they were achieved through a surgical procedure.

 HOW DOES IT WORK?

Fibroblast Plasma Lift targets fibroblasts - collagen and protein-producing cells in the dermis, the layer of skin just below your outermost skin layer. Fibroblasts play an important role in helping skin wounds heal as well as maintaining skin firmness and tightness.

Fibroblast Plasma Lift uses a pen-like device that discharges the energy of plasma (gas) to small areas of the skin. The plasma tip doesn’t directly touch the skin, but instead releases a targeted current just above the skin. The hot current creates small dots, or micro-injuries, in the skin’s layer.

WHAT IS THE TREATMENT LIKE?

While the procedure may vary slightly based on where you’re having the treatment, the basic steps typically include cleansing the skin and applying a numbing cream, treating the designated skin area with the plasma pen, which creates small scab-like dots on the skin, and finally, applying a cooling gel to minimize the tingling and burning sensation whenever possible.

The procedure usually takes about 30 to 120 minutes to perform depending on the treated area.

Once the procedure is completed, you can expect the small dots to scab over and fall off after about 1 week. Over the next couple of weeks, as your skin heals, it should appear tighter and firmer. Some people may see benefits from one treatment, while others may require three treatments before they see results.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF FIBROBLAST PLASMA LIFT?

Fibroblast Plasma Lift is a non-surgical treatment that may be used to treat acne scars, sun spots, seborrheic keratosis, and wrinkled skin, including the eyelids, neck, jawline, and above the lips.

Cosmetic specialists may also use plasma fibroblast therapy as an alternative to lip fillers to make the lips look fuller.

  • improve skin texture

  • offer mild-to-moderate skin tightening effects

  • result in some degree of skin facial contour change

WHICH AREAS ARE BEST FOR FIBROBLAST:

Like RF, Fibroblast skin tightening can be performed virtually anywhere on the body, on large and small areas alike. You can have a full-face lift, get rid of hooded eyes, make the C-section scar disappear, and so on.

IS IT SAFE? WHAT ARE THE SIDE EFFECTS?

Fibroblast skin tightening, when performed correctly, is one of the best non-surgical skin treatments in the beauty industry and cosmetology to date. However, the treatment has to be performed by a certified skilled technician, not only to be effective but also to be safe.

You shouldn’t receive plasma fibroblast therapy if you:

  • are breastfeeding

  • are pregnant

  • have an allergy to topical anesthetic preparations

  • have an infection at the treatment site

  • are using isotretinoin for wrinkles or acne

The Plasma Pen used for the treatment should be manufactured by a reputable medical company, and it will always come with associated paperwork and certifications. If you are considering Fibroblast treatment - be sure to select an experienced provider!

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

Pricing for Fibroblast, just like any other more sophisticated treatment, will vary based on the qualifications of the provider you choose and the area in which the salon is located. One thing is sure - Fibroblast is much more affordable than surgery. At AskCares we offer a full-face Fibroblast Plasma Lift for $1800 and a Neck treatment for $750.

Which treatment is best for you?

Both of these treatments produce incredible results and are safe, non-invasive procedures. Fibroblast is more effective overall, but does requires some downtime. However, most clients will find that one treatment is enough for visible results.

RF Therapy, on the other hand, has to be done over the course of at least five treatments and requires monthly maintenance. However, there is no downtime - you can see the effects immediately after the treatment.
